Back in May, after watching the pros at Badminton, we entered our first one day event! Keeping local to us we headed up, fully kitted out with Ollard Westcombe Kit- from Freedom Jump saddle all the way to the event air bridle.
We’d put lots of effort into training and it was game time! We arrived to a busy venue but Tony was cool as a cucumber. First up was the dressage phase, Tony warmed in well and produced a fantastic test for 33.7
The next phase was show jumping, Tony’s favourite phase, now sporting the addition of the Ecorider hunt breast plate! Tony was feel keen and absolutely FLEW round, well within the time and a perfect clear round. A quick check of the score board to see we were sitting in 1st place heading out onto cross country!
The course set was a challenging one, lots of hills to contend with and a few questions along the way. Tony pulled out of the start box and was well on his way. We made it strongly round to the water where Tony had a small disagreement about getting his toes wet! With some encouragement he splashed through and completed the final fences with ease!
After leading heading out onto cross country, but having some penalties for stopping at the water and being a little over the optimum time we dropped out of the placing for this event! However, we both made it home safe and had so much fun doing it.
